The Los Angeles Lakers unveiled a first look at three bobbleheads for franchise legends Norm Nixon, Kurt Rambis and Paul Westhead, which will be given out to fans at three separate games this upcoming season.

The team announced a new League of Stars program Presented by BMO that will begin this season and with that, have decided to honor a trio of legends who were invaluable to the Lakers during their Showtime run of the 1980s.
The first giveaway will be the Nixon bobblehead on Dec. 14 when the Lakers host the New Orleans Pelicans. Nixon won titles with the Lakers in 1980 and 1982, actually leading the team in scoring in the playoffs in 1982 when he was also named an All-Star. He teamed with Magic Johnson to give the Lakers a dynamic backcourt with a pair of players who could both score and distribute at a very high level.
The Westhead bobblehead will be given away on Jan. 14 when the Lakers host the Orlando Magic. Westhead took over as Lakers coach during the 1980 season, leading the team to a championship that year. He would also go on to become the first coach to win both an NBA and WNBA Championship.
The Rambis bobblehead giveaway will take place on March 17 when the Lakers host the Phoenix Suns. Rambis spent nine years as a player with the Lakers, winning four NBA Championships in 1982, 1985, 1987 and 1988. He also won two more as an assistant under Phil Jackson in 2002 and 2009. Rambis was known for his hustle and energy, always being willing to do the dirty work and give his body up to do whatever it takes to win.
The Lakers paying homage and shining some light on figures such as Nixon, Westhead and Rambis is a great idea and something that will surely continue on in the ensuing years. Because the Lakers have such high standards, these people don’t see their names in the rafters or get statues, but they were all incredibly important to the success of this franchise.
Lakers’ Austin Reaves bobblehead unveiled for Dec. 27 giveaway
The legends aren’t the only people getting bobbleheads this season as current star Austin Reaves will have his own bobblehead night on Dec. 27 when the Lakers host the Memphis Grizzlies. And the franchise has already unveiled how that bobblehead will look as well.
