30. Washington Wizards (Last week’s ranking: 30): This season is not looking good for the Washington Wizards. It might be a good idea to begin prepping for next season.

29. New Orleans (28):  The New Orleans Hornets are 1-9 their last 10 games and are currently on a seven game losing streak.

28. Detroit Pistons (27): Detroit is 2-8 in their last 10 games and show no signs of improvement.

27. New Jersey (29): With a disinterested Deron Williams and constant trade rumors every week, the future of the New Jersey Nets does not look bright.

26. Toronto Raptors (22): The Toronto Raptors have lost their past eight games and are 1-9 their past ten games. It’s time for someone on that team to step up.

18. Minnesota Timberwolves (23): Minnesota showed improvement this week. Led by Kevin Love, who hit a huge buzzer beater against the Los Angeles Clippers, the T’Wolves look to continue to improve.

17. New York Knicks (15): The Knicks continue to stumble along this season. They have lost their last six games, which is inexcusable with a roster like theirs.

16. Portland Trail Blazers (11): After a strong start of the season the Portland Trail Blazers have finally cooled down, which is a good sign for the Lakers and other teams in the Western Conference.

15. Indiana Pacers (5): The Indiana pacers have an overall record of 10-4 and are undefeated at home.

14. Utah Jazz (10): I have yet to figure out the Utah Jazz, one week they look great the next – not so hot. Their overall record is 10-5 and have four of their next five games at home.

13. Los Angeles Lakers (6): Although low scoring and lackluster until Fisher came through once again in the clutch, the Lakers had a big win against the defending NBA champs. The Lakers looked tough when Kobe had his 40-point streak going but he has little help offensively, which may be a problem.

12. San Antonio (10): Thus far this season the Spurs have shown us they are a tough team to beat on their home floor. With four of their next five games on the road coming up, we will see how this veteran squad performs.

11. Houston Rockets (18): The Houston Rockets made a huge jump this week in the power rankings. Are you as surprised as I am? They have won their last six games and next three opponents include the T’Wolves, Bucks and Wizards.

10. Dallas Mavericks (8): After losing to the Lakers the Dallas Mavericks have won their past two games and find themselves top 10 in the league. It’s nice to see Lamar Odom finally starting to find his groove.

9. Memphis Grizzlies (17): Coming off a six game winning streak the Memphis Grizzlies have been playing surprisingly well. However, this could all change next week as four of their next five games are against contenders.

8. Los Angeles Clippers (7): The Clippers showed they can play well without Chris Paul in the lineup, which is a sign they are starting to come together as a team. DeAndre Jordan is making a strong case for himself as a candidate for this years All-Star team.

7. Atlanta Hawks (14): The Atlanta Hawks are back in the number seven spot after falling to last week. Their next five games are on the road and they could very easily find themselves back in the 14th spot next week.

6. Denver Nuggets (12): The Denver Nuggets are back in the number six spot after falling to the 12th spot last week. They have an overall record of 12-5 and are coming off a four game winning streak.

2. Oklahoma City Thunder (2): The Thunder have a record on the year of 13-3, which is second best in the league. Their next three opponents include Detroit, the Hornets and Warriors.
