The Golden State Warriors picked the perfect time to snap a nine-game road losing streak to the Los Angeles Clippers with a thrilling 126-121 comeback win in the NBA Play-In Tournament.

Stephen Curry led all players with 35 points and did so while wearing the ‘Fade to Blake Snakeskin’ Nike Kobe 4 protro. Curry famously went through much of the 2025-26 NBA season as a sneaker free agent after ending a partnership with Under Armour that had been in place since 2013.

Curry rotated through several brands of sneakers, which often included wearing a pair from Kobe Bryant’s signature line with Nike. Curry caused quite a stir when warming up in the Kobe 6 Protro Mambacita Sweet 16 before his first game after news of splitting from Under Armour broke.

However, his first game as a proverbial sneaker free agent was spent in the Curry 12 “Eat Learn Play” player exclusive by Under Armour. The four-time champion nevertheless wanted to pay tribute to Bryant by donning one of his signature shoes.

Curry at multiple points during the season wore shoes from Bryant’s line, and he’s now leaned into the Kobe 4 protro for consecutive games. He had them on when the Warriors ended their regular season with a loss to the Clippers at the Intuit Dome this past Sunday. Curry had 24 points in the 115-110 defeat.

That marked the Warriors’ ninth consecutive loss to the Clippers in Los Angeles, whether playing at Staples Center/Crypto.com Arena or Intuit Dome.

Curry remained in the Kobe 4 protro for the Play-In game and overcame a slow start to score 27 points in the second half. Curry’s seventh 3-pointer of the game a tie with 50.4 seconds remaining as the Warriors erased a 13-point deficit in the fourth quarter.

The pair of shoes that Curry laced up the past two games is a predominantly black suede design with snakeskin detailing on the forefront and collar, and gold and teal accents. The FTB Snakeskin Kobe 4 protro released on Nov. 2, 2019.

The next opportunity Curry will have to wear the shoe is on Friday, when the Warriors face the Phoenix Suns at Mortgage Matchup Center for the right to be the eighth seed in the Western Conference playoffs.
