The 2006-07 season saw another heroic effort from Kobe Bryant that didn’t result is significant win totals. L.A. stumbled to the No. 7 seed at 42-40 and were forced to face the Phoenix Suns yet again.

Despite Bryant averaging 31.6 points per game in the regular season and 32.8 in the playoffs, it wasn’t enough for the Lakers to get out of the first round. They lost in five to the Suns and for the second straight year had been eliminated by their division rivals.

In the Eastern Conference, a young LeBron James was carrying a horrid Cleveland Cavaliers roster far beyond their capabilities. He brought them to the NBA Finals, defeating the Detroit Pistons in the process.

There, he would face the San Antonio Spurs, hungry for their fourth championship of the Tim Duncan era. It was an easy ride for the Spurs, as they won in four against an outmatched Cavaliers team.
