Lakers News: Bill Macdonald Signs Three-Year Contract Extension

Los Angeles Lakers play-by-play announcer Bill Macdonald is in his fourth year with the team and it appears that he’ll be sticking around for at least three more seasons, according to Bleacher Report’s Kevin Ding:

Back on Jan. 22, 2006, Macdonald got his first taste of play-by-play work alongside Stu Lantz by filling in for Joel Myers. Macdonald couldn’t have filled in for a better game with the Lakers taking on the Toronto Raptors at the Staples Center.

It turned out to be a historic night in the NBA with Kobe Bryant scoring a career-high 81 points, which is the second-highest total in NBA history behind Wilt Chamberlain’s 100-point game back in 1962.

Ultimately, Macdonald replaced Myers and has been the play-by-play announcer for the Lakers ever since.

As for Lantz, the longtime color commentator is in his 28th season with the Lakers and is currently working on his extension with the franchise.
