Five Things For Lakers Fans To Look Forward To In The 2015 Off-Season

Well that was a depressing season, to say the least.

If you’re a Lakers fan, usually around this time of year you’re gearing up for the playoffs to begin.

You remember the feeling, right?

Lakers flags are perched on top of cars and SUVs, flapping away through the wind while cruising down the congested L.A. freeways.

Spring is finally here, and the sun is shining bright on a variety of purple and gold jerseys, basketball shorts, and hats.

You and your friends are congregating at a sports bar or someone’s home — talking trash to the one guy who’s donning an opposing team’s jersey.

And everyone’s anticipating a parade down Figueroa in June when it’s all said and done.

None of that this year, however. None of that for the past few years, actually.

It certainly feels like like an eternity, doesn’t it?

As fans, we could point the blame in a number of areas (Jim Buss, Mitch Kupchak, David Stern, the new CBA, etc.), but the reality of the situation is that these things happen to every team. Usually they don’t happen to the Lakers quite this often or for this long, but I chalk a big portion of the downfall up to injuries and bad luck, along with the cyclical nature of the NBA.

Nonetheless, after coming off a season in which the Lakers notched 61 losses, there literally is nowhere to go but up (hopefully).

Essentially, it’s going to take a while for the Lakers to get back to the promise land, as the team is currently in a complete rebuilding phase.

In the meantime, throughout this process, there’s certainly a lot of upside and some things to look forward to that could impact how the team eventually performs in the long run.
