The Los Angeles Lakers reserves held the Los Angeles Clippers to just nine points in the fourth quarter, but after being down by as many as 28 points, the Lakers came up 10 points short on Christmas Day.

The second unit of D’Angelo Russell, Julius Randle, Marcelo Huertas, Nick Young and Brandon Bass did give the Lakers a bit of life in the final quarter of action. Russell led the team with 16 points off the bench, including two three-pointers and Huertas who netted a +18 on the night, finished with six points, two rebounds, two assists, and a steal.

In the post-game videos below, head coach Byron Scott assesses Russell’s performance as “pretty good,” but points to defensive deficiencies. Scott also says it was Huertas’ energy and leadership that spearheaded the second unit.

With the 2016 NBA All-Star game nearing, Kobe Bryant admits that he was shocked when he saw that he’s leading in votes. Plus, he talks about whether or not playing in the All-Star game matters to him.
