Lakers Exit Interviews 2018: Andre Ingram In Awe Of Experience, Hopes To Parlay It To NBA Contract

He may have only come around for the final two games of the season, but Andre Ingram provided one of the best stories in the entire NBA when he debuted for the Los Angeles Lakers after spending 10 years in the G League.

The fact that Ingram would then pour in 19 points and set a franchise record for most 3-pointers made in his debut, showing exactly why he is the G-League’s all-time leader in threes, made the story that much better. “I still haven’t been able to quite look back yet,” Ingram said during his exit interview.

“I’ve just been enjoying it, taking it all in. It’s been quite a whirlwind. I haven’t really sat back and rested on it yet. When I do I’m sure it will be great.”

Ingram was the talk of the town following his debut, appearing on different radio shows, throwing out the first pitch at Dodger Stadium, and even finding out that the Lakers would be selling his jersey.

“I did hear about that. I mean, how cool is it? It’s amazing, it really is. Hope I can get one,” he said.

Now that Ingram has finally made his NBA debut, the goal now is to stick in the league, and Ingram will be hard at work this offseason. “Obviously, I want to keep working on my strengths so that they stay strengths. But also counters to that,” Ingram noted.

“Shooting is one thing and looking at the way the guys defended. What can you do when people are closing out hard? Can you get by? Can you get in that midrange area? Can you get to the basket?”

While Ingram knows what he wants to work on, he doesn’t yet know if he will be part of the Lakers Summer League team with Josh Hart and Thomas Bryant.

“They didn’t really talk about the Summer League for any of us. They kind of just let us know to be ready to work out here in the summer.”

Ingram says that the plan for now is to return home to Virginia and be ready when the time comes to return to Los Angeles for workouts and put in the work necessary to earn that NBA contract.

“That’s the goal.”
