The basketball world will soon be descending on the city of Los Angeles as the 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend will be taking place in the city. While technically the L.A. Clippers are the host team, with most All-Star events taking place at the Intuit Dome, there is no mistaking that Los Angeles is, has and always will be a Los Angeles Lakers town.

Since moving to Los Angeles in 1960, the Lakers franchise has embraced everything that makes this city special and, in turn, the people of Los Angeles has made this team a staple throughout Southern California. Purple and gold is everywhere, and this franchise is synonymous with winning, success and superstars with the majority of the top NBA players ever, including Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, Jerry West, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Shaquille O’Neal and now, LeBron James and Luka Doncic donning the jersey.

With all eyes on the city of Los Angeles, the Lakers recently released a short film entitled “Iconic Los Angeles” to welcome fans from across the world to experience the city’s heartbeat and culture of the Lakers:

The 60-second short film is a love letter to the city of dreams where Lakers basketball stands at the center of what makes the West Coast legendary. Showcasing Lakers culture, energy and style throughout the city’s iconic streets and neighborhoods. “Iconic Los Angeles” features Doncic, James, Bryant and O’Neal.

The Lakers, the city of Los Angeles, and this fanbase are truly intertwined and this short film does an outstanding job of capturing that.

The Lakers and Los Angeles were made for each other and this city just has a different energy when the purple and gold are doing what they do best, winning and competing for championships. Lakers are beloved everywhere around the city and it isn’t just limited to the big stars as role players and smaller names who help this team win are beloved and treated as icons as well.

There is just something different about the connection between the Lakers and Los Angeles that very few franchises in American sports can match. And this short film is able to capture and express that in just 60 seconds.

Bronny James: Lakers believe they are contenders if healthy

Whether the Lakers can compete with the top teams in the league for a championship this year is in question as most see this team as a level below the true contenders. But Bronny James says the Lakers feel they can make a run, as long as they are healthy.
