Bronny James is in the midst of his sophomore season with the Los Angeles Lakers and trying to make a name for himself. Fortunately, he gets to play next and learn alongside his father in LeBron James, as well as Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves.
As a three-and-D guard, he possesses a skillset in high demand in today’s NBA, but he needs to fully embrace that role. Through a year and a half, Bronny appears more confident in his game. He’s also gotten more confident when speaking with the media, and joked about beating LeBron in their last 1-on-1 after Friday’s win against the Brooklyn Nets, via Dave McMenamin of ESPN:
Bronny James: “The last time I played [LeBron] 1-on-1 – I don’t know if this story came out – but he broke a backboard at our house in Miami”
Austin Reaves, at the next locker: “It was ‘cause you won?”
Bronny: *Nods yes*

Bronny suggests that this game was during LeBron’s tenure with the Miami Heat. This would mean a still childhood Bronny defeated LeBron, the four-time champion firmly in his prime..
To have an all-time great as a parent is a special tool to have and it allows Bronny to see firsthand what it takes to be an NBA player. That co-exists with getting reps and building confidence, two things the former USC Trojan needs.
With this season winding down, next year will be a vital one as he looks to break out and become a mainstay in head coach JJ Redick’s rotation. If Bronny continues to find ways to improve his game, take advantage of his spot minutes, things can materialize quickly.
Lakers ‘needed’ Bronny James against Pacers, and more praise
The Lakers recently returned from a long six-game road trip and they came out the other side with an impressive 5-1 record. Notably, the last game of a trip is the hardest and the Indiana Pacers presented a bit of a challenge.
Indiana mounted a fourth-quarter comeback and Bronny James made two timely baskets to restore order. After not receiving any meaningful minutes for a while, playing in a tight fourth quarter is a tough circumstance to be in.
However, Bronny stepped up and looked to embrace the moment. JJ Redick noticed it, saying the Lakers needed him against the Pacers, along with his teammates praising his clutch play.
