Just one month ago not many would have envisioned Bronny James being part of the the Los Angeles Lakers’ playoff rotation even if it’s come in limited minutes in every game so far.

James was particularly effective in Game 3 as he drilled a 3-pointer and caught a lob in transition, courtesy of his father, LeBron James.

Those five points were Bronny James’ first in his young playoff career, which are moments that he will never forget.

“It’s what I always wanted, especially a playoff game,” the sophomore guard said on Spectrum SportsNet. “The first playoff bucket is great for me, great for my confidence and how I approach the rest of the playoffs. I think it was great for it to happen then… I appreciate the coaches for believing in me and putting me back in the game.”

Bronny was not sure the last time he caught a lob from LeBron, but it was a historic one as the first father-son alley-oop in postseason history.

“I’m not sure when was the last time I got an oop from him. Probably in training camp last year, maybe this year. It was just one of those things. He saw me and saw that I was making eye contact with him, so he threw it up, and I can always go get it.”

Another stunning stat is the former USC Trojan’s five points outscored Houston’s bench, as they only totaled three points. The Rockets’ reserves shot 1-for-11 from the field, 0-for-6 from distance. Clint Capela was the player with that lone made field goal.

At this point, James will play short stints and depending on how those first spot minutes go, he can get rewarded with more burn. With more reps and experience, the hope is that he can slowly build his way into a consistent rotation player and eventually climb into a playoff rotation.

LeBron James: lob to Bronny was ‘special moment’

Seeing how shorthanded the Lakers are, everyone needed to step up against the Rockets and they have. Outside of LeBron James and Marcus Smart, there have been plenty of bright spots.

But Bronny James was waiting for his first playoff moment and it finally came in Game 3. LeBron James was on the floor to see it, throwing his son a lob in transition, calling that play a ‘special moment.’
