Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic was the talk of the town last offseason when he unveiled a new physique after getting into the best shape of his life through workouts and dieting.

That was felt on the court as Doncic turned in one of the best seasons of his career, leading the league in scoring at 33.5 points per game to go along with 7.7 rebounds, 8.3 assists and 1.6 steals en route to a sixth All-NBA First Team honor. The 27-year-old finished fourth in the NBA MVP voting, which was the second-highest finish of his career.

In an interview with Jorge Quiroga of Marca that was translated from Spanish to English, Doncic revealed the biggest difference he felt on the court after transforming his body:

“Above all, I was less tired. That was the most important thing, and I think I moved around better. The change was very good for me.”

Doncic is known to be a quick starter, often leading the league in first quarter points. In his first postseason with the Lakers though, he was seemingly running out of gas in the second half of games, which led to a first-round loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Coming out of that series and him being traded by the Dallas Mavericks, Doncic knew he needed to make some changes and that is exactly what he did. Now, according to reports, Doncic is keeping up with that same diet and workout regimen to get back into great shape for the 2026-27 season.

The Lakers star unfortunately did not end last season on a high note as he suffered a grade 2 left hamstring strain at the end of the regular season that kept him out of the team’s postseason run. While it took a while to recover from that, he is now reportedly feeling 100% healthy as he begins his ramp up for the upcoming season with the Lakers.

Luka Doncic gives input on what Lakers need

This offseason is a big one for the Lakers as they look to surround Doncic with the talent needed to compete for a championship. And the superstar recently gave his input on what that should look like.

“I think mainly shooters and a big man who can run the pick-and-roll and jump so I can pass to him. If I have shooters, they won’t double me as much and it helps me out,” Doncic said in Spanish.
