Once the 2026 NBA Draft came to an end, the Los Angeles Lakers went to work on the undrafted free agent market.
They first were able to land former Vanderbilt former Ak Okereke on a two-way contract, and now they have done the same with Peter Suder of out Miami (OH), per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype:
Sources: The Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to a two-way contract with MAC Player of the Year Peter Suder. He led Miami (OH) to a 31-0 regular-season record and shot 42% from 3-point range this season. Keith Kreiter and Sam Cipriano of Edge Sports completed the deal. pic.twitter.com/4LmGvTIM01

As Scotto mentions, Suder is the MAC Player of the Year and is coming off a stellar senior season in which he averaged 14.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.3 steals while shooting 54.6% from the field and 42.1% from 3-point range. The 22-year-old possesses good size for a guard at 6’5 and 215 pounds.
Suder is a versatile player and smart defender that should get plenty of on-ball opportunities for the Lakers during Summer League.
Teams are allowed to give out three two-way contract, which means the Lakers still have one available that they could either use right away or hang onto until after Summer League to see who impresses and becomes available.
Recapping Lakers’ 2026 draft
The Lakers went into the 2026 NBA Draft with just one pick at No. 25 overall in the first round. On Tuesday night, they wound up sending some cash to the New York Knicks in order to move up one spot to 24 and draft Baylor guard Cameron Carr, a prospect a lot of experts were very high on as a first-round talent.
As the second round approached, the Lakers appeared to want to get in on the action as they traded some more cash to the Chicago Bulls for the No. 56 pick. As the second round went on though, they didn’t end up making a pick. The Lakers ultimately traded the 56th pick to the Dallas Mavericks for some more cash.
The exact reason for this is unknown, although the prospects they likely were targeting could have gotten taken before them so when it got to their pick, there was no one they were enamored with and decided to trade it to recoup their cash.
While more undrafted signings will be made, the Lakers’ Summer League roster is coming together with Adou Thiero, Carr, Okereke and Suder.
