The 2026-27 Los Angeles Lakers schedule begins with a matchup against the Golden State Warriors for the second consecutive season.

However, with the game coming on Wednesday, Oct. 21, it marks the first time since the 2018-19 season that the Lakers were not selected to be part of the NBA’s Opening Night. Instead, their home matchup with the Warriors is part of the league’s Opening Week primetime slate.

The Lakers were picked for the NBA’s schedule of games on Christmas Day, as they will face LeBron James and the new-look Philadelphia 76ers at Crypto.com Arena. It’s the Lakers’ 28th consecutive season playing on Christmas and their 53rd time overall. The Lakers’ 25 wins on Christmas are second-most in NBA history.

Other highlights on this season’s Lakers schedule include early matchups with the Los Angeles Clippers on Oct. 23 and 28, facing the Boston Celtics on Jan. 7, 2027, and their annual Grammys road trip from Jan. 28 through Feb. 8. That is good for the Lakers’ longest road trip of the season at seven games and includes facing the defending champion New York Knicks.

The Lakers also have a five-game road trip and two separate four-game stretches away from home. Their longest homestands are three individual five-game spans from Dec. 21-29, March 6-14 and April 4-11. In a favorable break that could have playoff implications, the Lakers finish the regular season with five home games during the aforementioned April dates.

The Lakers schedule has 15 back-to-backs, which is up slightly from the 14 they played last season.

Just as they were last season, the Lakers again have 34 national TV games (ABC, ESPN, NBC, Peacock, Prime).

Lakers in West Group C for Emirates NBA Cup

For the 2026-27 season, the Lakers are in West Group C for Emirates NBA Cup play. Joining them are the Portland Trail Blazers, Sacramento Kings, San Antonio Spurs and Warriors.

The Cup format largely remains unchanged, with each team playing four group stage games on designated “Cup Nights” every Friday from Oct. 30, through Nov. 27. One wrinkle is there will be two specialty “Cup Nights” on Nov. 23 and 24.

Group Play begins for the Lakers on Friday, Oct. 30, with a road game against the Warriors. That’s followed by home games against the Trail Blazers on Friday, Nov. 6, and Kings on Friday, Nov. 20. The Lakers’ final Group Play game is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 27, in a road contest against the Spurs.

Eight teams will advance to the knockout stage: six group winners along with one wild card team from each conference. The quarterfinals and semifinals will take place in home markets while the Cup Final was moved to Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, and will be played Friday, Dec. 11.
