Lakers News: Dwight Howard Will Not Play Friday Against Minnesota

Dwight Howard re-aggravated his shoulder injury on Wednesday when they lost to the Suns at Phoenix. Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports has the latest report on Howard.

Los Angeles Lakers v Los Angeles ClippersHe was re-evaluated Thursday and was said to be day-to-day with the injury. Howard has been trying to avoid surgery, as that would knock him out for the rest of the season. But, still, Dwight has to be careful. This was the third time he has hurt that shoulder this month. Not only he has to be careful about his shoulder but he has to be careful not to re-aggravate that back, too.

Pau Gasol should be promoted to the starting line-up, who had not been happy as of late with the way Mike D’Antoni had been using him as a bench player and, sometimes, sitting him out in the fourth quarter. With Gasol becoming the primary center for the team, Robert Sacre should get some playing time on the pivot. Remember that Jordan Hill is out for the rest of the season.

Hopefully, Dwight Howard will be available for Super Bowl Sunday, when they continue on their Grammy road trip and face the Detroit Pistons at Auburn Hills. In the meantime, the Lakers face the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Wolves have dynamic point guard Ricky Rubio, who took up for his fellow Spaniard, Pau Gasol, about his role on the Lakers.
