Dwight HowardAfter completing his five meetings, Lakers free agent center Dwight Howard has retreated to Colorado in an effort to ease his mind and make a decision about where he’ll play next year.

Throughout the process, former Lakers coach Phil Jackson loomed, as he tweeted Howard about coming back to LA. However, there were reports that Howard was also going to Montana, where Jackson resides, but Jackson cleared that up this morning on Twitter:

During the season, Howard and Jackson exchanged text messages on two occasions after the Lakers decided to hire Mike D’Antoni over Jackson.

Howard and Jackson have been infatuated with each other as Jackson has stated several times that he’d love to coach the seven-time All-Star. It was no secret that Howard wanted the Zen Master patrolling the sidelines last season, but with his new role as a consultant with the Lakers, if Jackson has a defined role, it might sway him to come back.

A decision from Howard could come as early as tomorrow as he’s made it known that he wants to sign on July 10. While a meeting with Jackson didn’t take place, maybe they’ll happen more frequently if Howard decides to stay in LA.
