One of the most infamous mistakes that Andrew Bynum made last season with the Los Angeles Lakers was jacking up an ill-advised three-pointer that barely hit iron. The second the shot went up, Lakers coach Mike Brown immediately jumped off the bench and was furious as it didn’t make any sense why Bynum would take a shot like that.
As a result, Brown pulled Bynum in favor of Josh McRoberts and the media frenzy ensued in Los Angeles. Everyone wanted to know what was going on in the locker room and whether or not Bynum was at odds with Brown.
Along with a very public benching by Brown, SportsCenter played Bynum shooting the three over and over again. The distraction was unavoidable, but fairly comical in retrospect.
During practice on Monday, Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters talked with new starting center Dwight Howard and the topic of shooting threes came with the perennial All-Star jokingly saying the following:
Dwight joked around about Bynum shooting 3s to get on SportsCenter “Hey I might have to do that to get on SportsCenter!”
