Kobe Expects to play Tuesday Despite Swollen Foot

During last night’s loss to the New Orleans Hornets Kobe Bryant suffered an ankle sprain late in the fourth quarter. This caused Bryant to leave the game momentarily and had him on crutches after the game.

The injury happened to the same ankle Bryant injured earlier this season against the Dallas Mavericks. The sprain was originally called ‘the scariest of {Bryant’s} career.’ Reports coming out of New Orleans following Game 4 claimed that Bryant’s ankle was severely swollen and listed him as questionable for Tuesday night’s Game 5.

Kobe was quick to squash those reports, claiming he will be ready to play Tuesday night. This comes as no surprise as Bryant has a reputation as one of the toughest players in the league when it comes to playing through injuries.

Bryant could be awaiting an MRI later today to make sure no internal ligament damage has been done. The official announcement will be made by a Lakers official at some point this morning.
