President of the Union, Derek Fisher, had this to say about what transpired today, via @KBergCBS
“Fisher: “We did not come out of here with a deal today, but we will be back here at 10 a.m.”
The sides met for nearly four hours and a total of 21 NBA players attending the meeting, including league stars LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Dwyane Wade. Miami Heat’s Udonis Haslem had this to say following his first labor meeting, “Everybody’s minds and hearts are in the right place, so that’s a start.”
Commissioner David Stern told reporters earlier that these next couple of meetings will determine whether the NBA season would start on time or not, and it is clear both parties are determined to get a deal done. Luckily, Stern said there was no “bad news” to report following today’s labor session.
Although the lockout is still looming over the NBA, the sides are meeting and fans can only hope tomorrow’s session will bring major progress.
