The schedule for the 2026 Las Vegas Summer League has officially been announced. The Summer League goes from July 9-19 and the Los Angeles Lakers will begin their journey against the team who ended their season, the Oklahoma City Thunder on July 10.
In fact, all of the Lakers’ contests will be against teams who had picks in the lottery of the 2026 NBA Draft so they will be taking on some of the top prospects to come out this year.
The Lakers will actually have a back-to-back to kick off their stint in Las Vegas as they will take on the Dallas Mavericks on July 11, though last year’s top pick Cooper Flagg surely won’t be participating after winning Rookie of the Year and already showing himself to be one of the best young players in the NBA today.
Up next will be a battle of Los Angeles as the Lakers will face the Clippers and No. 5 overall pick Keaton Wagler and things will end with a contest against the Chicago Bulls and fourth overall pick Caleb Wilson.
Depending on how the Lakers perform in those four contests, they will have the chance to make the Summer League playoffs, but even if they don’t qualify they will have at least one more game, though that is obviously unknown at this time.
The Lakers will have a number of intriguing players to watch on this year’s squad with the team’s first-round pick Cameron Carr chief among them. Carr is an outstanding athlete who also shot very well from 3-point range and many will be interested to see how he looks against NBA competition.
Last year’s draft pick Adou Thiero has also said that he expects to play in Summer League, especially as injuries didn’t allow him to participate last year. He showed some flashes in his rookie season and his development will be extremely important to watch as well.
The Lakers also worked quickly to add a number of intriguing prospects immediately after the draft. Vanderbilt forward AK Okereke and Miami (OH) guard Peter Suder each signed two-way contracts with the franchise. Additionally, the Lakers added Syracuse defensive big man William Kyle III, skilled Saint Louis center Robbie Avila and Marquette wing Chase Ross on Exhibit 10 contracts.
Prior to the Las Vegas Summer League, the Lakers will also be participating in the California Classic with the Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings and Miami Heat.
