Lakers Announce Signings of Greg Somogyi, Reeves Nelson

In a press released issued by the Lakers this afternoon, the team announced the signings of center Greg Somogyi and forward Reeves Nelson.

Terms of each agreement weren’t released in compliance with team policy.

Somogyi is a 7-3 center out of local university UC Santa Barbara, and played all four years for the Gauchos. During his time at UCSB he posted career averages of 3.5 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 12.2 minutes per game.

Nelson, a 6-8 forward out of UCLA, had a troubled past under coach Ben Howland, and was ultimately dismissed from the team. During his time with UCLA he played in 68 games, averaging 12.1 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 27.0 minutes.

Both players participated on the Lakers’ Summer League squad in Las Vegas this past July.
