At the beginning of the offseason, one of the primary goals for the Los Angeles Lakers was to build out the overall infrastructure of the franchise. This not included building out the staff in different departments, but also a number of improvements within the team’s practice facility.
Well, that has at least begun to take place as the Lakers have installed two new basketball courts inside the UCLA Health Training Center.

These courts will allow for a lot more extra work to be done by the players on the team, whether it be individual work and drills, scrimmages, or injured players being able to get in work as they recover. With the other additions expected to be made within the facility to help with training and recovery, the Lakers will have everything they need to help out the players throughout the season and in the offseason.
It is great to see some positive advancements happening with the Lakers as much of the recent news has been filled with drama. From another ownership change with Mark Walter selling his majority shares to Bob Iger and Josh Kushner, to more Buss family issues surrounding the sale of their remaining shares to Iger and Kushner and Jeanie Buss contesting that, there are a ton of questions surrounding this franchise right now.
The hope is that all of these things won’t negatively affect the product on the court. The roster was remade around superstar guard Luka Doncic with a number of new additions. Walker Kessler, Quentin Grimes, Collin Sexton, Sandro Mamukelashvili, Matisse Thybulle and others have all joined the purple and gold ready to push this team to the next level. Not to mention Austin Reaves being locked down with a new four-year deal so he and Doncic can pick up where they left off as the NBA’s top scoring duo.
Doncic will soon be hosting the entire team in Slovenia for a minicamp and team bonding experience and when they all return, the Lakers players will have everything they need at their fingertips.
