NBA trade season is in full swing, which means constant rumors from “unnamed sources.” The Lakers are often thrown into these rumors as leverage, but this season appears to be different. The Lakers were a main option for DeMarcus Cousins, but the Kings decided to send the All-Star to New Orleans after the Lakers wouldn’t include Brandon Ingram.
Reports have emerged linking the Lakers to both Jimmy Butler and Paul George, but a trade for either seems highly unlikely. The Lakers have already shown they aren’t ready to move on from their young core, and any trade for Butler or George would likely require a combination of Ingram, Russell and Randle.
The most likely trade scenario seems to involve Lou Williams. The former Sixth Man of the Year is having a career year coming off the bench, and the Washington Wizards are apparently interested in trading for him. According to ESPN’s Zach Lowe, the Wizards are considering offering a lottery protected first round pick for Williams.
There’s only two days left until the deadline; hopefully the Lakers will be able to bring in some assets before it passes.
