The Los Angeles Lakers got a bit of a scare during their first NBA Summer League game on Friday. Toward the end of the game against the Los Angeles Clippers, Brandon Ingram went down with an apparent leg injury which had Magic Johnson, Luke Walton, and all Lakers fans holding their breath.

Fortunately, Ingram’s injury was diagnosed as a leg cramp. Unfortunately, it was enough to end his Summer League campaign with the team shutting him down for the rest of their time in Las Vegas.

Luke Walton, who is currently an observer like Magic and the rest of the Lakers brass, isn’t concerned about Ingram’s injury and admitted he was coming off an ankle sprain he suffered recently, via Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters:

For what it’s worth, Luke Walton isn’t concerned about Brandon Ingram, mentioned that B.I. did sprain his ankle last week, so just cautious

With Ingram ruled out for the remainder of Summer League, it’s Lonzo Ball’s show the rest of the way. Although Ball had a forgettable debut going 2-for-15 from the field against the Clippers, the rookie point guard bounced back with a vengeance on Saturday night against the Boston Celtics recording his first triple-double in a Lakers uniform.

Along with Ball having an impressive performance against the Clippers, fellow rookie Kyle Kuzma has been solid during his first two games. Kuzma is helping shoulder the load without Ingram on the floor averaging 20.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game while shooting 44.1 percent from the field.

After a day off on Sunday, the Lakers will get back to work on Monday going up against De’Aaron Fox’s Sacramento Kings. This will be a highly anticipated matchup between Ball and Fox who last met in the Sweet 16 with the Kentucky Wildcats getting the best of Ball’s UCLA Bruins.
