Lakers News: Nick Young Discusses Kendrick Lamar

Nick Young has drawn a great deal of attention on and off the court this season. His play has been impressive this season, but his wardrobe continues to surprise people. Before the Lakers went on their annual Grammy trip, Nick Young sat down with Lakers sideline reporter Mike Trudell to discuss fashion and famous relatives.

Trudell would ask Young were he got his inspiration for all his outfits:

“You know, just me being Swaggy P. You know I take pride in what I wear, and that’s my second job outside of basketball. I plan on being a model later on in life.”

Young credits himself for his style and outfits. He wants to be a model after his basketball career is over, which explains the outfits he puts together for himself.  Young thinks Wesley Johnson is one of the best dressed Lakers, along with Steve Nash. Young would also mention Kobe as one of the top dressers and likes the shoes with the spikes on them that Bryant had worn recently.

Trudell would go on to ask Young if he was actually related to hip hop recording artist Kendrick Lamar:

“That’s my, I want to say my Dad’s sister son, or something like that.”

According to Young, his father and Lamar’s mother are brother and sister. Young had stated before that he knew Lamar was his cousin but didn’t really get to grow up with him. Regardless, it is quite impressive for a family to have one relative playing for the Lakers and the other be a platinum recording artists.
