Lakers News: Pau Gasol Has No Hard Feelings For D’Antoni, Lakers

Kobe, Gasol, NashPau Gasol turned the Lakers into championship contenders overnight when he was traded in 2008, and he helped guide the team to back-to-back titles in 2009 and 2010. However, over the past few seasons the Spaniard has seen a trade get rescinded by the league and has struggled to return to his former self.

Last season, Gasol had a tough time adjusting to Mike D’Antoni’s offense and often times, he was benched in key moments and for long periods of time. However, the Los Angeles Times’ Eric Pincus writes that Gasol does not have any hard feelings for the Lakers or coach D’Antoni.

“I don’t hold grudges. I really don’t get stuck in the past,” Gasol said. “Things happen for a reason, that’s why I always stay in the present. I’m happy with my position now. I’m excited to get started in training camp when the time comes.”

Gasol and Dwight Howard never were able to work things out in the frontcourt completely, and it was hard to have two big men in the D’Antoni system. However, the coach believes Gasol will have his best season yet in 2013-14, and fans are hoping to see him return to championship form.

Kobe Bryant has always shown support for Gasol, and the two hope to return to glory before it’s all said and done.
