Lakers News: Pau Gasol Wins Social Difference Award

The Lakers didn’t have their greatest year on the hardwood, but for some reason, they were able to dominate the Internet and take home four of the 10 NBA Social Media Awards.

Pau Gasol took home the Social Difference Award, which makes a lot of sense considering all of the charity and philanthropic work that he does on a yearly basis. Gasol regularly visits children’s hospitals — and with his background in medicine — has even sat in on a surgery.

Kobe Bryant was able to bring home two awards. He won the Social MVP over guys like LeBron James and Chris Paul. He also won the 140 award for his tweet “Amnesty THAT” after a huge game over the Mavericks, which was in response to Marc Cuban saying the Lakers should amnesty Kobe at the end of the season.

Dwight Howard also won an NBA Social Media Award — the Snap Shot Award — after taking a photo with Kobe after there was a lot of rumors about Dwight and Kobe not getting along.

Even with the Lakers don’t win, they still win somehow. What a great first annual Social Media Awards showing for the Lake Show.
