Lakers News & Rumors Recap: Kobe’s Active Trip in Brazil

NBA: Los Angeles Lakers at Los Angeles ClippersKobe took some time to speak with ESPN in Brazil this weekend while watching the Confederations Cup between Brazil and Italy. A hot topic was Kobe’s recovery, which the star detailed as “going well” since he has been up and walking around without a boot.

Kobe stressed that his career is not over, stating  “I can easily see myself playing another three or four years.” What a great sign for Lakers fans. He spent some time with David Beckham to ask him about the soccer star’s Achilles injury in 2010 and how he got back into top shape. Beckham remained one of the world’s most successful and highest paid players following that injury.

Brazilian Laker’s fans got bold this weekend during the Mamba’s visit. Kobe Bryant was greeted by fans asking for D’Antoni’s dismissal upon arriving to the country. Ouch. It seems his distaste goes past Los Angeles. Check out the image here.

The Clippers pulled off a huge offseason feat, snagging Doc Rivers of the Celtics as head coach. Although the NBA hasn’t approved of the trade yet, it will more than likely go through. It is rare, but not unheard of, for a trade of an active coach. Here are some more details:

“The deal would bring Boston a first-round draft pick in 2015, according to the official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because it is pending a trade call with the NBA office. Rivers, who had three years and $21 million left on his contract with the Celtics, must also reach an agreement on a new deal with the Clippers.”

This offseason has already been interesting, with an uncertain Dwight Howard and a number of staff changes. Stay tuned for more moves as July approaches. Lakers Nation will be here to guide you through it.
