The Lakers face an important summer in 2014. Armed with the seventh overall selection, and a couple of young players, the Lakers will be fielding a decent team once they start Summer League.
The team annually competes in the Las Vegas Summer League and this year is no different as the Lakers schedule for Summer League has officially been announced according to the LA Times’ Eric Pincus:
The Lakers will open summer league play in Las Vegas on July 11, the NBA announced on Thursday […] The Lakers will also play the New Orleans Pelicans on July 13 at the Thomas & Mack Center, followed by a July 14 matchup against the Golden State Warriors at Cox Pavilion.
After playing those three games, all 24 teams will play at least two more games in a tournament style format to crown the Las Vegas Summer League champion.
In addition to whoever the Lakers draft with the seventh pick, the summer league team can include up to three players under contract with the team, meaning that familiar faces such as Robert Sacre, Kendall Marshall, and Ryan Kelly could all suit up this summer.
