Former Syracuse forward, Tyler Lydon, held his pre-draft workout with the Los Angeles Lakers yesterday afternoon at the team’s practice facility in El Segundo. Lydon is projected to selected in the late first-round, which makes him an intriguing option for the Lakers, who aside from holding the second overall pick also have the 28th pick.

Last season with the Orangemen he averaged 13.2 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. He also was highly efficient, shooting 47.2 percent from the field, including 39.2 percent from behind the three-point line.

In an interview with Mark Medina of the Orange County Register, Lydon said shooting is his main skill, but other aspects of his game should not be overlooked.

“I also feel like I can do more. I can put the ball on the floor and make plays for other guys, find guys when they’re open. Those things. At the end of the day, I’m trying to come in and play my game.”

At only 205 pounds it will be beneficial to add some mass to keep up with the physicality when battling other NBA big men. His shooting ability at his size makes him good prospects for teams, including the Lakers. Big men who can shoot the ball have become a prized possession for teams because of their versatility.

If the Lakers decide to draft Lyon with their late first-round pick, he could become an important piece in the future. His development will be crucial as to whether he has a future in the NBA and if he can get one team to take a chance on him, they could end up finding a diamond in the rough.
