Free agency is set to begin and the Los Angeles Lakers have big plans, already locking up meetings with LaMarcus Aldridge and DeAndre Jordan. The team has enough room for one maximum contract, but they have plans beyond that.

— Have you seen the ‘Lakers Nation’ phone case? —

According to Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski, the Lakers are looking to unload contracts in order to create more salary cap space:

Considering who the Lakers have under contract, there are only two players who could be moved to create cap space, Nick Young and Ryan Kelly. Getting rid of both would create about $7 million of cap room for the Lakers, giving them around $30 million total to work with.

That probably would not be quite enough room to give both of them max contracts, but if one or both would be willing to take a slight pay cut, they could combine to form an excellent frontcourt for the Lakers. Even if the plan isn’t for both, the Lakers would have ample room to sign a other complimentary players if they are able to land one of the two.
