Lakers Rumors: Team Reportedly Close to Acquiring Dwight Howard

How long has it been since you’ve heard a Dwight Howard rumor? Five minutes? Great then you’re due for another one.

The latest report from the land of Mickey Mouse and Epcot Center is that Howard is going to end up in Los Angeles as a member of the Lakers before it’s all said and done.

According to David Pingalore of WKMG-TV in Orlando, and reported by our friends over at Sheridan Hoops, Howard is going to be a member of the Lakers. It’s just not official yet.

“This past week has been nothing but multiple smoke screens concerning the Dwight Howard drama. According to Pingalore’s sources, this week is all about getting Dwight Howard to Los Angeles and on the Lakers roster. Sources close to the situation believe the “The Lakers will be the end game for the Magic center”.

The most recent rumors had Howard ending up in Houston. The Rockets even went as far as to use their amnesty clause on longtime team forward Luis Scola. However, another report surfaced saying Dwight was definitive in his desire to not re-sign in Houston if he’s traded to the Rockets.

While we continue to ride the Dwight-O-Rama Ferris wheel, the Lakers will continue to focus on the players that are currently on the team roster. This includes many of their young guns, who will look to rebound from their 91-50 beating at the hands of the Golden State Warriors in yesterday’s Summer League opener.
