Lakers Set to Add Ex-Utah Coach Jim Boylen to Staff

According to Ric Bucher of ESPN the Lakers and new coach Mike Brown are looking to add former University of Utah head coach Jim Boylen to the coaching staff.

Boylen coached the University of Utah from 2007-2011 before being fired from the position. His position with Utah was his first head coaching position after many years as an assistant in both the NCAA and NBA. Before taking the head coaching job in Utah, Boylen served under legendary coach Tom Izzo as an assistant for Michigan State.

This fills in one more piece of the coaching puzzle as the Lakers have spent the last several weeks looking for candidates to fill out Brown’s staff. After bringing in former Detroit Pistons head coach John Kuester earlier this month the Lakers will need just one or two more coaches to complete the staff.

Current assistant Chuck Person has been offered a position to remain with the team, but no decision has been made yet on whether he will come back to the Lakers bench next season.
