With three preseason games down, the Los Angeles Lakers are still searching for a win, but showing improvements with every outing. They will get another chance at putting one in the win column with their 2015-2016 STAPLES Center debut against Israeli team, Maccabi Haifa. Rookie guards D’Angelo Russell (bruised glute) and Marcelo Huertas (hamstring) will be out of action, as well as veteran forward Brandon Bass (patella contusion). The Lakers will trot out a starting lineup of Jordan Clarkson, Kobe Bryant, Anthony Brown, Julius Randle and Roy Hibbert. This will mark the first career start for rookie Brown, while Randle will look to build off a strong showing in his previous two games.

Check out tonight’s highlights below:

defense looks good.. of course the opponent has never beaten an NBA team. randle continuing to be aggressive.

  • Russell super calm and controlled off the bench.

Meta is 100% correct about Russell, he plays confident and calm like a vet. Love that! !!

Exactly what we need from our star PG.

  • This game is too easy. Would be nice to see Lakers play against some real competition

  • Kobe looks better than he did last two seasons, like the way he’s moving, shooting, running, and so on. Encouraging that his injury wasn’t to the legs

  • for the same reason we can’t rush things when we are losing in the preseason, we can relax when we win big. Because is not about win or lose. Is about work on our progression as a team.

  • It looks to me like Randle can defend the SF position incredibly well. It might be best to move him to that spot if he can defend without fouling. Having a two way wing player would make the Lakers much better.

  • Toronto, believe it or not, is probably going to be the #1 seed in the east. And Utah will probably compete for a playoff spot so it’s not the end of the world that the Lakers lost to them.

  • Lou and Nick are not the same, though. Lou is getting to the line a lot more. When Nick misses he’s not getting fouled, it’s just a fast break for the other team.

  • Not #1, the Cavs and the Bulls. Bulls won’t be as good, but they’ll still be good to win a majority of their games. Plus the Bucks are an underrated great East team

  • No, I’m thinking more of Kwai Leonard, DeMarre Carroll, and Chris Middleton. Defensive stoppers. We’ve already seen what happened when Artest came in and played good defense. The whole team got better.

  • 4/7 shooting; 16 rebounds, 7 offensive; 3 blocks; and even 5 assists… what are you complaining about?

  • I think Juluis will dominate the Pf position but we have to wait til he plays the big dogs

  • Nah, the Bulls are out without Thibbs. That whole team is really built around Thibbs defense. Hinirch, Butler, Gibson, Noah, Snell, etc. don’t really have the same value without a defensive minded coach. Now the Bulls will be leaning on Mirotic and Mcdermott more. It’s just not the same team it was under Thibbs.

Maybe the Cavs, but I believe that Toronto will have a similar season to the Hawks last year now that they have DeMarre Carroll. It’s just the regular season, though.

  • it’s impossible to not watch d’angelo as he’s dribbling the ball up the court. you know you could see a spectacular pass.

  • Still unsure. They need to release Sacre and give that spot to Upshaw. Plus, Huertas we haven’t even seen him play. MWP and J. Brown. J. Brown has sucked, but he’s a good shooter and rim attacker

    C: Hibbert, Black, Upshaw
    PF: Randle, Bass

    PG: Russell, Huertas

  • Hibbert makes allot of his big play making look easy , so sometimes it can be overlooked, but the majority of centers can’t facilitate like he does.

Very few to no fouls too.

  • Dominate the position? I think he will be a star, but when you say dominant I think of Tim Duncan or Karl Malone. I don’t really see that out of Randle. I see someone who can compete with anyone, but not put the team on his back like Kobe did.

  • Jaime Maggio look like she’ll make you a batch of cookies after you get it in with her

  • My 15 man roster
    C-Hibbert, Black, Upshaw
PF-Randle, Bass, Nance Jr. , Kelly
    SF-Metta, A. Brown
    SG-Kobe, Young, J. Brown
    PG-Russell, Clarkson, Williams

    *CUTS
    – Huertas (old player and will be injury prone due to rigors of an 82 game season, not much upside left)
    – Sacre (no need to elaborate)
    – Holmes ( sad to say we have to many prospects already at his position, Nance Jr. A. Brown & Kelly (still developing)

  • I like the lineup, but for some reason I think Huertas going to make the team. The FO made a big deal of his unguaranteed contract on social media unlike the other unguaranteed contracts

  • Karl put his team on his back? So hornacek and stockton didnt play a part? Tim is the best PF that Play the game .. So I agree with u there but U can’t see JR dominating the PF position like Karl or Barkley? I sure can ..

  • Lol, that’s not what I’m saying. Everyone does their part, but a guy that scores 30ppg has a bigger burden that anyone else.

If his touch around the rim is as good as Barkley’s then he certainly can dominate the position, but nothing he has really shown me has indicated that he will be dropping 25-30 a night with 11 rebounds. I see him as a 17-9 kind of guy and maybe a 23-10 guy once Kobe is gone and Russell has perfected his passing game.

We have two future guards if he avg 20 and 10 and play def hell be dominating the of position in today eras .I see it but. U right time will tell..I like Karl but he was jus a good PF like barkely they were not the best

  • Bro, I’m not sure what you mean.
Oakford avg like 12 a game in 17 min.
I don’t think Russell has scored in double figures since that one game in summer league.

  • Russell seems like he will be a slightly better Kendall Marshall with more turnovers

  • Russell has demonstrated great confidence from day 1 Vdogg.

That is a big deal for a 19 year old in his position under this amount of pressure, and it’s something we don’t give him enough recognition for.

  • If we beat them by only 10 points I wouldn’t praise our Laker team but leading by as much as 40 points, that says allot about our team! !!

    Let’s praise them!

  • Yea, we’ll they are both athletically limited players who can pass well and shoot just under 40% from three.
    Also both aren’t great defenders.
I like Marshall. I’m not sure what you’ve seen Russell do that would say he is way better right now.

  • I like the starting line-up. Anthony Brown is a solid defender for now, he just needs to drop those open shots. Having Russell come off the bench for now is a good move by Coach Scott. He just needs to settle in, and let the NBA game come to him. For me, having him in the starting line-up makes it a lot of pressure for the kid. Let him settle in, observe the game for a couple of minutes, then come in and do his thing. Soon, he can run with the Starting lineup. I can’t wait to see them beat a good NBA team this pre-season.

  • Randle isn’t the same kind of player as Tim Duncan, though. Randle is not a shot blocker, he’s not going to average 11-12 rpg his full career, and probably not going to be nearly as clutch as Duncan was in his prime. Randle is more like a stronger James Worthy. Randle definitely has HOF potential, but I don’t personally think he will ever be as good as Duncan was specifically at being a power forward. Maybe Randle can come close when you look at all of his talents, but not at posting up, rebounding, blocking shots, and making clutch baskets.

  • My whole debate with you is, JR will dominate as being a PF in his era. Thats all I’m saying .. Never compared him to Timmy which I keep preaching is the best PF in my eyes to ever play this game . I think he will dominate like Lamar did and Zach is doing now he is a combination of both .. That comparison is dead on.. Look at whose dominating this era now.. Zach, Blake, draymond, ,L.Aldridge, bosh, Gasol, Ibaka , etc…and you mean to tell me you can’t see JR dominating them? That’s my argument he will dominate them when its all said and done ..

  • It’s good that we are debating just how great he will be and not whether or not he will be good.

You are right if that’s who you are referring to. He can get the best of all those guys.

  • Having Huertas healthy will give Scott some options. Deciding what to do with Metta is going to be what’s tough. I think he has to coach, if we want to keep Nance and Brown for the long term.

Young and Kelly are back to playing like they did before they got hurt. So the idiots in the cheap seats have to finally shut up.
