Metta World Peace is one of the most colorful players to ever play for the Lakers. Though he only spent four years in purple and gold, Metta was one of the more beloved recent Lakers, and helped the team to a championship in 2010.
Now that he is currently out of the NBA, Metta has time to reflect on his time, particularly his years spent with Kobe Bryant. In a special for Courtside Access, he decided to give a little tribute to Kobe:
Over the years people have constantly asked me”What makes a player great?” or “What does it take to play in the NBA?” or better yet “What makes Kobe…well Kobe?” So I decided to try something a little different and put together my own “Top 10 Components” of what makes Kobe one of the best players to ever play the game.
Metta would go on to list his top 10 components of Kobe Bryant which starting from number 10 went: The Focus. The Fundamentals. The Eyes. The Shoes. The Post-Up Game. The Fadeaway. The ‘Clutch’ Three-Ball. The Killer Instinct. The Comparisons. The Return.
The return of Kobe Bryant is one of the biggest question marks of this season, but Metta obviously has belief that his former teammate will return at a high level.
Bryant has admitted he won’t be the same player, but if he is able to be just as effective, this return could be a successful one.[divide]
