The Los Angeles Lakers claimed one of their biggest victories of the season Friday night when they beat the Memphis Grizzlies by two, 86-84.

The Lakers and Grizzlies were going back and forth the entire game and the outcome was decided in the final seconds. Thanks to clutch plays from the Lakers on both ends of the court, the team walked off the court winners of three consecutive games. At the same time, the Lakers retained sole possession of the eight seed in the West.

After the game, coach Mike D’Antoni spoke to Mike Trudell and spoke about the team’s effort.

D’Antoni is pleased w/t effort to find a way to win, but said LAL have a long way to go. “We’re not out of the woods at all.”

Utah also won its game on Friday night, meaning if the Lakers had lost to the Grizzlies, Utah would have reclaimed the final playoff spot in the conference. At this point, the Lakers are a half game ahead of the Jazz in the loss column, meaning if the Lakers win all of their remaining matches they will make the post season.

The Lakers will be back on the court Sunday for a game against the Los Angeles Clippers.
