NBA Free Agent Rumors: LeBron James To Lakers ‘Very Much In Play’

When it comes to potential free agents this summer, the biggest name available is obviously LeBron James. Still believed by most to be the best player in the NBA, the Los Angeles Lakers are expected to pursue him this offseason, but James coming to L.A. seems like a longshot.

As promising as the Lakers are, they are still a team that is far away from championship contention. James joining a rebuilding team in the final years of his career seems like the opposite move he would make. Colin Cowherd believes that other things could be in play however.

On his national radio show The Herd with Colin Cowherd, he explained that he heard from a source that James to L.A. was a possibility and explained why:

“LeBron has a team of attorneys, and marketers, and shoe reps, and nutritionists, and business partners, and trainers. And that team will eventually move to the location LeBron’s going to move. And I’ll just leave it at this: let’s just say, none of his team members have a place in Houston […] This is fluid, it is happening, Lakers very much in play.”

It is well known that James’ business ventures are all based in Los Angeles. Additionally his kids go to school and even his wife reportedly would prefer to live in Southern California. All of these things could come into play when James is making his decision this summer.

The Lakers are surely going to use anything they can to convince James to join the franchise as adding him immediately vaults them way up the Western Conference standings, even further if they are able to bring in another star with him.

Who knows what James will ultimately choose to do, but if the Lakers even the slightest chance to lure him to L.A., Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka will pursue him endlessly.
