After an eleventh-hour meeting in New York tonight between the NBA and the NBPA both sides were hoping to find a solution to the lockout before David Stern starts cancelling regular season games on Monday.
Following a five hour meeting both sides had nothing to say, as both sides simply stated ‘no comment.’ Stern made a brief statement.
“We don’t have any comment at all, other than we are breaking for the night and reconvening tomorrow afternoon.”
Derek Fisher and Billy Hunter shared the same sentiments, with Fisher stating that they weren’t necessarily any closer at the conclusion of the meeting than they were at the outset.
However, there may be one last glimmer of hope before the league loses the first two weeks of the season. Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reported that NBPA president Derek Fisher said that a NBPA meeting that was previously scheduled for Monday “will be rescheduled” so that talks between the union and the NBA can resume at 2 p.m. Eastern tomorrow afternoon.
