The last two seasons have been brutal to say the least for Pau Gasol. The two-time NBA champion has dealt with numerous injuries, countless trade rumors, and an uncertain future.

Fortunately, the Spaniard is taking some much needed time off before entering free agency for the first time in his NBA career in July. Gasol has been consummate professional throughout the last two years and is finally enjoying time away from the game in his native country of Spain.

While in Spain, Gasol updated his blog, PauGasol.com, with some updates on his physical condition. Gasol said the following about his current status:

“I feel great. My vertigo problems are finally over. I’m not physically frustrated or mentally tired. I can’t remember the last vacation when I was feeling this good. I’m fresh, wanting to do a lot of things. I don’t feel like switching off completely, with the summer we have ahead of us, with the World Championship and the other personal and professional projects I have in mind.”

Heading into free agency this summer, Gasol will weigh all of his options as he makes a decision about where he’ll end up playing potentially the last years of his career in the NBA.

With the recent departure of Mike D’Antoni, Gasol may be more inclined to return to the Lakers. Kobe Bryant has already reached out to Gasol in an effort to get his longtime teammate to stay in Los Angeles a little while longer, but it is too early to tell if he’ll be back.

Recently, Gasol has been linked to a few different teams that might try to retain his services in July. The San Antonio Spurs, New York Knicks, Memphis Grizzlies and Chicago Bulls could be potential destinations for the veteran in free agency.
