On Saturday night some of the most exciting and acrobatic NBA players will take the court in Orlando’s Amway Center for the annual NBA slam dunk contest. And, even though there won’t be any Lakers participating in this year’s event, there’s one player on the team who participated (and won) way back in 1997.
When Kobe Bryant won the dunk contest things were very different. Bill Clinton was the President of the United States, the Chicago Bulls were the defending NBA champions, and the average price of a gallon of gasoline was $1.36.
However, a brash teenager took the floor in Cleveland, Ohio and ended up going home with the prize.
