Steve Nash Reacts to Roger Federer, NFL Season-Opener via Twitter

The 2012 NFL regular season officially got underway on Wednesday night with the Dallas Cowboys taking on the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants.

As always, these two division rivals going head-to-head is as heated a matchup can get in the league with no love lost between one another.

Although the Giants were favorites to come out on top at home, New York struggled against Tony Romo and company. The Cowboys offense was too much to overcome for the defending champs with Romo throwing for three touchdowns and leading Dallas to a 24-17 victory over New York.

As an avid fan of many different sports, Steve Nash of the Los Angeles Lakers expressed his disappointment over the Giants’ loss and tennis star Roger Federer falling to Tomas Berdych in the US Open via Twitter:

The beginning of the 2012-13 NBA season is still more than month away for the Lakers. Nash and company will take on one of his former teams in the Dallas Mavericks on October 30. This will be a highly anticipated matchup with the Lakers unveiling a superstar roster headlined by Kobe Bryant, Dwight Howard, Pau Gasol, Metta World Peace and Nash.

In the meantime, NBA players and fans will most likely continue to turn their attention to the NFL with three weeks of football to watch before the training camps open and preseason games begin. Along with Nash, many other star players in the league chimed in on the NFL’s season-opener on Twitter.

LeBron James, Ty Lawson, Derrick Williams, Eric Gordon, Grant Hill, Dirk Nowitzki and Chris Paul were amongst the other big-name NBA players to show their support for the Cowboys and or Giants on Wednesday night.

Miami Heat’s Chris Bosh actually attended the game at MetLife Stadium and tweeted a picture of his Cowboys hat:
