The Los Angeles Lakers drafted D’Angelo Russell second overall hoping the former Ohio State product would help lead the team into future success. As a whole, Russell has had a rough outing through his first four NBA Summer League games but has shown flashes of who he can become every now and then, especially in terms of creating for others.
After opening Summer League with two straight games Friday and Saturday, Russell and the Lakers had a day off Sunday. Russell spent some time with Bleacher Report’s Lance Fresh and discussed his taste in cars and did some shopping searching for an “L.A. look.”
Russell also talked about his Draft night experience and how he was built for the moment. His phone call with Kobe Bryant also came up with the rookie looking forward to learn from Bryant when the two eventually meet.
As for experiences on the court, Russell has been picking up on the NBA’s speed and tendencies while trying to establish some chemistry with his teammates. The more they play, the better Russell should become.[divide]
