Despite their sixth consecutive loss in the preseason and a potentially game winning missed three by Kobe Bryant, the captain was surprisingly upbeat and positive about the Lakers performance last night.

“I like the way we played. The first unit played pretty well defensively. We were all over the place, we were active we shopped passing lanes, funneled things to Dwight… he changed shots or blocked them.”

Speaking of Dwight, although he himself said he felt a little rusty, Bryant seemed to brush that notion off his shoulders.

“I don’t think he looked particularly rusty tonight. He looked normal to me in terms of how he was running, in terms of his stamina, his wind. He looked great.”

On Dwight changing the pace and energy of the game with his monster dunks? The Black Mamba is all for it.

“Those plays can alter momentum in games. It can energize the crowd, it can also demoralize the opposition. It does a lot of things.”
