The Los Angeles Lakers have an exciting offseason approaching, starting with the NBA Draft on June 23 and NBA free agency beginning on July 1. In addition to the priorities of the Lakers’ front office, this is a huge summer for the development of the young core.

D’Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson, Larry Nance Jr., Anthony Brown, and Julius Randle have been working to improve their game since the end of the season. Clarkson, Nance Jr., and Brown have been regularly posting on social media, making sure their followers are aware that they are working hard in the gym in the early summer.

Russell has been no different, as he is on a mission to prove that he was worthy of being drafted as the Lakers’ No. 2 overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. On Wednesday, Russell posted a clip on his Instagram page showcasing him working on a ball-handling drill with trainer Robbie Haught:

As a primary ballhandler, Russell is doing his due diligence to hone in on his already impressive ball handling. Drills like the one seen above are designed to help improve hand-eye coordination as well as tightening up your dribble.

Back-to-back MVP, Steph Curry, has also been seen doing these types of ball handling drills. If the unanimous MVP still focuses on fundamentals, Russell should be doing the same.

It has been a productive offseason for the Lakers and their young core so far, and the future is beginning to look bright in Los Angeles.
