VIDEO: Lakers Spanish Broadcast Team Wins Award For Best Live Call

Toronto Raptors v Los Angeles LakersOne of the best games of an otherwise forgettable season was the Lakers overtime win over the Toronto Raptors. Kobe hit a three-pointer late in the fourth quarter to send the game to over time — and that three pointer was coupled with an equally remarkable call by the Lakers Spanish broadcast team. The Spanish broadcast team features Adrian Garcia-Marquez and Francisco Pinto, and they just won the award for the “Best Live Call” for their call of Bryant’s three-pointer in that thrilling March victory.

“We are honored and humbled by this award,” said Garcia-Marquez via Lakers.com. “It means so much to us that our peers gave us this distinction. Honestly, we were happily surprised to just have been included on a list with many legendary and talented gentlemen to whom we personally look up.”

The call was made on television on the Time Warner Cable Deportes broadcast, where Garcia-Marquez and Pinto constantly do remarkable work.

After nailing the three, Garcia Marquez and Pinto go crazy and use their own personal nickname for Bryant — El Macho — during the call. Hearing the enthusiasm from the duo makes the shot even more thrilling. Watch the award winning call below.
