Video: Pau Gasol Bloodies Eye After Collision With Miles Plumlee

Pau GasolFinishing up their short two-game road trip, the Los Angeles Lakers were in Phoenix to take on the Suns Monday night. Playing their third game without Kobe Bryant, the Lakers were looking to avenge their loss to the Suns just two weeks ago.

As was the case against the Golden State Warriors on Saturday, the Lakers performance in the third quarter was unbelievably poor. Offensive rebounds and three-pointers continued to be a problem as they  saw a 13-point halftime deficit escalate quickly.

With 6:50 left in the third quarter, Lakers forward Pau Gasol and Suns forward Miles Plumlee butted heads as the 33-year-old Spaniard tried to make a move towards the basket. He immediately passed out to Jodie Meeks, who missed a three-pointer before play was stopped so Gasol could receive some assistance from head trainer Gary Vitti.

The collision left Gasol with a bloody eye, causing play to stop for about a minute as he tried to get the blood stopped.  Vitti got the blood to stop pouring from Gasol’s eye and he was able to check back into the game a few minutes later.

Here’s the incident involving the two seven-footers and subsequent bleeding from Gasol:
