<< 1957-58 Minneapolis Lakers | 1958-59 Minneapolis Lakers >>
1957-58 was the first truly horrible season for the Minneapolis Lakers. Their best player, Vern Mikkelson, averaged just 17.3 points per game as the Lakers finished 19-53. They would miss the playoffs for the first time in franchise history.
The Boston Celtics looked to be the team to beat after winning the previous championship and running away with the league’s best record. Despite that, the No. 1 seed out of the west — the St. Louis Hawks — were able top defeat the Celtics in six games in the NBA Finals.
