The 2010-11 Los Angeles Lakers were looking to take home the franchise’s second three-peat of the 2000’s with Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol at the helm. Despite a clearly aging core of players, the Lakers were still one of the best teams in the NBA, finishing 57-25 to grab the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference.

The first round saw the Lakers show some weaknesses that would further be revealed in later rounds. They needed six games to get past a New Orleans Hornets team that finished in the No. 7 seed, and the they would face a talented Dallas Mavericks roster.

Many figured this to be a six or seven game series, but the Mavericks had other plans. They blitzed the Lakers in four straight games to sweep the series and continue on to win the championship. This would put an end to the contending years of the Bryant-Gasol Lakers.
