The 2019-20 Los Angeles Lakers preseason schedule was officially announced, which features six games but only two different opponents.

LeBron James and the Lakers will get a heavy dose of the Golden State Warriors, beginning Oct. 5, when the teams open the sprawling new Chase Center in San Francisco. The 2019-20 NBA season will mark the Warriors’ return to San Francisco after spending 47 years in Oakland, Calif.

The Lakers will also conclude their preseason schedule at Chase Center on Oct. 18. Sandwiched between the two matchups in San Francisco are a pair of games with the Warriors at Staples Center.

As for the Lakers’ second opponent during preseason play, they travel abroad to face the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA China Games. L.A. hosts Brooklyn at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai on Oct. 10, then are the road team for their Oct. 12 matchup in Shenzhen.

The trip to China is the Lakers’ first since the 2013-14 NBA preseason. The contests mark the 27th and 28th NBA games ever played in China.

“The entire Los Angeles Lakers organization is excited to return to China to play in front of the passionate Chinese fans,” Kyle Kuzma said when the 13th edition of the China Games were announced.

“During my visit to China, I was absolutely amazed by the fans’ love and excitement for the game of basketball. We would like to thank you in advance for coming out to support us in Shanghai and Shenzhen and I know the atmosphere at the games will be great.”

While the trip will mark a first for several of the young Lakers, James will play in China for a third time in his career. James previously played NBA games in China with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2007 and Miami Heat in 2013, and has additionally made several visits as part of promotional tours with Nike.

Months before beginning their preseason schedule, the Lakers will additionally play exhibition games in the second annual California Classic Summer League. The Warriors, Miami Heat and Sacramento Kings also return for action at Golden 1 Center. From there the Lakers will participate in the annual Las Vegas Summer League.
