Jordan Farmar Says He Would Be A Laker Next Year If It’s Up To Him

Next year’s Laker team will almost definitely look different than this year’s edition. With almost everyone on the roster becoming a free agent, the Lakers will have to choose who they decide to bring back next year.

One of the biggest question marks will be Jordan Farmar. He has played great when healthy, and has become something of a leader on this team. After tonight’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies, Farmar reiterated that he would like to stay in Los Angeles to Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters:

Farmar understands the business aspects of the NBA. The Lakers are going to be very cautious about spending too much money as they want to retain their cap flexibility for the next couple of summers when guys like Kevin Love and Kevin Durant will be free agents.

Farmar, much like Nick Young, is from the Los Angeles area and would love to stay with the Lakers in the future, but it must be at the right price. Many teams cripple their franchise by overpaying role players and the Lakers have to avoid that temptation.

Point guard is the most important position on the court. They should be the extension of the head coach on the floor, and have to be a leader. Farmar has shown he is capable of running the show for the Lakers. Now we will have to see if he stays around for the long run.
